Who is Cynthia Bunnay?
Cynthia Bunnay(aka Cynthia Chang) is a popular internet personality among gamers and in the gaming community in general. Unfortunately, it’s for all the wrong reasons. This is because she was at the center of one of the most controversial gaming scandals in recent times since Gamergate. Accusations of lying, cheating, manipulation and unprofessionalism have been thrown at each other by the parties involved. So what really happened? Read on to find out.
The MVG Controversy
It all started when MVG(Most Valuable Gaming), a professional eSports team, hired her to be their public relations and social media manager. MVG sponsors professional gamers, most notably those who play Smash Bros. It was supposed to be just a short-term gig for Bunnay, although she would’ve most likely been given permanent employment status based on her performance.
According to MVG, Bunnay performed poorly at work with “no willingness to improve”. They also found out later that she faked her credentials to get the job. That wasn’t the worst part, though. MVG soon discovered that Bunnay also “committed violations of confidentiality and privacy at the highest levels” within the organization. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back and led to her firing.
Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman is a professional Smash Bros. player and one of those sponsored by MVG. He claims he’d been lied to and used by Bunnay into convincing MVG boss Greg Mondesir to hire her. Also, during the time Zimmerman thought he and Bunnay were dating, he alleges that she brought another boyfriend, Ryan “Rages” Kidd, to live with her for a month in their boss’s old apartment in another part of town. Ouch.
Bunnay in turn responded to Mew2King by mocking his disability(he has Asperger’s syndrome) and also accused MVG of using fake sponsors. She has since apologized.
After she was fired, MVG discovered that she made unauthorized employee hirings while she was with the company. This caused a number of people to come forward and accuse MVG of being involved in illegal activities. The company has denied all allegations but has apologized to those who had been misled by Bunnay.
Backlash and leaked nude photos
The ensuing backlash from ex-boyfriends, former colleagues and the gaming community led Bunnay to deactivate her social media. This also resulted in someone leaking her nudes online. Both Zimmerman and Kidd denied having anything to do with it.
Although her nudes being leaked back then shouldn’t have happened, nobody knew that she’d be selling them herself via Patreon and Snapchat later on. Pretty ironic, isn’t it? Yup, just another e-thot looking for simps to give her money and attention. Those Patreon nudes eventually got leaked as well, by the way.
